CCTV Footage Shows Punjab Cop Planting Heroin Before Shiv Sena Leader’s Arrest
CCTV footage from a Shiv Sena leader's home in Khanna allegedly shows a Punjab police officer planting 30 grams of heroin before a raid. The officer has been suspended, the leader released and an SIT formed.
The footage reportedly shows Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Sukhdev Singh placing what appeared to be 30 grams of heroin under bedding inside Giri’s residence. Moments later, a police team raided the location, claimed to have recovered the contraband and arrested the Shiv Sena leader.
Giri had come under police scrutiny following an earlier heroin seizure involving his driver. The subsequent raid at his residence resulted in his arrest, but the CCTV footage raised questions about the circumstances surrounding the alleged recovery.
Responding to the incident, Khanna SSP Darpan Ahluwalia suspended ASI Sukhdev Singh and ordered the formation of a Special Investigation Team to investigate the matter. Mahant Kashmir Giri was also released, while the SIT was tasked with probing the role of all police officers involved in the incident.
